Subject: SXI Seeks to Raise RM250,000 for NEW Concrete Perimeter Fencing
Ganeson Ramasamy, President of Lions Club of George Town Mutiara (LC GTM), officially handed over a newly-constructed concrete-cum-metal wall now fronting St Xavier's Institution to the school's Principal, Rev Bro Paul Ho, at 7:30am on Fri 20 Jun 2008. The new fencing (plse see photo above) also incorporates two brandnew metal main gates fronting the school's main entrance facing Farquhar Street.
Take heart, however, that SXI's original "old" main gates, which may have some historic value, have not been sold off as scrap metal to the local karung guni man. They have instead been removed and re-installed as the"new" gates for the school's side entrance at Love Lane. (LC GTM also funded the construction of a new rain shelter at the Love Lane side entrance.) LC GTM members have now proposed replacing the existing perimeter fencing from Love Lane to Leith Street with a new concrete one. They are urging 2,500 Old Xaverians to contribute RM100 each to fund this RM250,000 project. All contributions -- preferably by cheque -- should be channelled directly to the school's PTA account ... "PIBG SM St. Xavier". The cheques should be mailed directly to SXI -- attention to the school's PTA (Alan Cheah) or Puan Betty Wong or Mr Cheng Beng Lock or Rev Bro Paul Ho.
